Welcome to the Historic Passport Booklet for “Old Albemarle.”
In 1663 King Charles II in the Carolina Charter gave what is today North and South Carolina to eight Lord Proprietors. In 1668 in the area of Albemarle four precincts Currituck, Pasqutank, Perquiman, and Chowan were created. These precincts became the first counties of North Carolina and out of these counties came the 16 counties of today’s northeastern North Carolina.
Directions:
Take this booklet and visit the sites listed in the sixteen counties of the Albemarle. At each site have your booklet stamped. Some counties will have one or two sites. When you have 16 stamps, have the booklet verified and signed and dated. You can now be entered into a random drawing to win one of five tablets to be given away. Only students, including public, private, charter, or home schooled, are eligible for the drawing.
Fill out the attached postcard completely and send to Box 44, Currituck, NC 27929. The postcard must be signed, dated, have the stamps of 16 sites and postmarked by January 15, 2019. The drawing will be on January 31, 2019 and the winners notified by mail.
Disclaimer:
To be eligible no purchase is necessary. You do not need to be present to win. The odds depend on the number of booklets completed and only one booklet per student.
