Pirate Palooza and Bocce, Beer & Bites
April 21, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
There are plenty of great reasons visit Elizabeth City, NC: scenic views, eclectic shops, tasty places to grab a bite, fun festivals, and inviting inns. In 2018, we’re adding new reasons to visit in celebration of the Albemarle region’s 350th birthday! Commemorating the 300th anniversary of Blackbeard’s adventures in North Carolina, Elizabeth City is hosting its first Pirate Palooza.
Ahoy, maties! Don’t miss out on the shenanigans during Pirate Palooza on April 20-21. Pirate Palooza kicks-off with Pirates at Museum of the Albemarle on Friday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and a kid-friendly ‘Dine with a Pirate’ event on Friday, April 20 at Museum of the Albemarle from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and tickets are $10 per person with catering provided by Topside Catering.
The tomfoolery continues Saturday, April 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Mariners’ Wharf Park with pirates invading the waterfront and downtown businesses. Pirate Palooza will be in full swing as visitors can experience the life of pirates through demonstrations that are ongoing throughout the day and other fun activities with plenty of booty to be handed out. At 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., the Motley Tones will sing ballads for buccaneers of all ages to enjoy.
And to ensure you don’t look like a landlubber, be sure to don your best pirate garrrrb! We have also provided a helpful guide on how to talk like a pirate. Tip: It helps to refer to yourself as “me” instead of “I.”
What better way to honor our buccaneering history than raising a pint of brew during North Carolina Craft Beer month! Pirate Palooza is proud to partner with the Albemarle Area United Way’s Bocce, Beer & Bites event, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., in Waterfront Park. In the beer garden, come and enjoy craft brews, provided by Ghost Harbor Brewing Company, and watch or participate in a bocce ball tournament and sample savory plates of barbecue and chicken provided by Currituck BBQ.
Come join in the fun – just don’t lose your head. Visit our calendar of events for more upcoming festivities!
